Freedom Fest, Free Swimming, Live Music, and Fireworks

Douglas is celebrating Independence Day with a full day of patriotic activities, family fun, live music, and fireworks.
The celebration begins with the Freedom Fun Run 5K and Patriotic Kiddie Parade, organized with support from the Douglas Police Department, Converse County Joint Communications, and local first responders.
The day continues with free swimming at the city pool, a street dance featuring Nate Smith & The Cattywhampus Band, and a fireworks show at Douglas High School.

Start your morning with the Freedom Fun Run 5K. Day-of registration begins at 8:00 AM in Washington Park, with the race beginning at 9:00 AM. The route loops through the Douglas Mountain walking trail before returning to the park.
Kids ages 14 and under are invited to participate in the Patriotic Kiddie Parade. Registration opens at 10:00 AM, with the parade beginning at 11:00 AM. Participants will line up near the City Pool on Center Street before the route loops through Washington Park.
Following the morning festivities, families are invited to enjoy a free swim day at the city pool. Check the official event schedule below for the finalized pool hours and additional information.
The Independence Day celebration continues with a street dance at the LaBonte Hotel & Bar.
Enjoy live music from Nate Smith & The Cattywhampus Band before heading to Douglas High School for the evening fireworks show.
Finish the celebration with the annual fireworks show at Douglas High School. Fireworks will begin after dark, weather and conditions permitting.
