Golf Courses

Converse County is home to two golf courses, one in Douglas and the other in Glenrock.Glenrock Golf Course
Douglas’ 18-hole course is located on the south edge of the community. It was first built in 1928 after 10 area businessmen donated $100 each.

According to the golf club’s website, www.douglasgolfclub.com, “the members chopped cactus on the prairie fairways and did all of the work to establish the golf course.” The website continues, “The sand greens were an experience. After your ball landed on the green — you draw a path from the ball to the hole, then you putt to the hole and then you had to rake the green for the next player coming behind you.”

In 1965 the Douglas golf course made the upgrade to grass and a modern underground sprinkler system. In 1972 the course was expanded from nine holes to the present-day 18. For additional information call the clubhouse at 307-358-4653.

Glenrock’s golf course, located along the community’s south entryway, is nine holes with a course difficulty rating of 31.4 and a slope of 95. “The combination of the challenge of this course and the beautiful scenery, make this a golfer’s dream,” says the website www.glenrock.org.
